Men's Breakfast, September 2017

The Men’s Breakfast Group met Saturday, September 9th without a featured guest; Hurricane Harvey made it impossible to recruit one.  The hurricane also reduced attendance to five people.
The main topic of discussion was the hurricane.  The only person with flooding was Don Porter who had a few inches of water in his Richwood house.  He is in the process of removing carpet and cutting out drywall.  Water flooded Richwood from Bastrop Bayou.  The water came up just to Rte. 288B on the west side, but did not cover the highway.

Freeport did well in the hurricane.  The city rented three pumps, which allowed them to pump out water from Velasco Boulevard.  This road often floods in a heavy rain but did not this time.  The very heavy rain on Tuesday night caused water to come up almost to the slab of Carol Bettoney’s house on Eleventh Street but did not come close to entering the house.
The attendees had an interesting discussion and a good breakfast.  The next meeting will be Saturday, October 14th.
