Crucifixion Symbols

Cross with Monogram — INRI. The first letters of the words
from the Latin superscription on the cross meaning, “Jesus
of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” John 19:19.

Robe of Christ. The robe was taken from Christ and gambled for
by the Roman soldiers. Matthew 25:35; John 19:23-24.

Spear. The spear, symbol for martyrdom, that pierced Christ’s
side. Matthew 5:3-10.

Dogwood Flower. Bracts set to form a cross with reddish-brown
markings remind us of the Crucifixion.
